Experience the celestial soundscape of Zodiac, a new evening length work composed by members of the UCF Composition Studio and performed by the UCF New Music Ensemble. Inspired by the structural makeup of Steve Reich’s minimalist classic Music for 18 Musicians, this concert unfolds in a stunning arc, from the opening and closing “Pulsar” movements to the 12 sections representing each of the zodiac signs. Scored for percussion sextet with a unique instrumentation of two vibraphones, two marimbas, and two drum sets, this performance promises to be a captivating exploration of rhythm and timbre.
